L-3 Communications [LLL] has delivered the C4ISR system to Bollinger Shipyards for the first Coast Guard Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter (FRC), the company said yesterday.
The C4ISR system was designed, built, tested and delivered in 14 months. Delivery coincides with the keel laying for the first patrol boat, which is named the Bernard C. Webber. The C4ISR system was developed by L-3 Communication Systems-East and includes the alarm and announcing system, an integrated bridge and navigation control system from the company’s Maritime Systems business unit, an integrated and automated internal/external voice communications system and an automated communications control manager for radio rooms.
L-3 said it met all program milestones on time and on budget, including Visual Tempest Inspections.
It is currently building the C4ISR systems for the next three FRCs under a contract from Bollinger that was awarded earlier this year. These systems are slated to be completed later this year and delivered in 2011.
