Pentagon CTO Confirms Work With Anthropic Is ‘Under Review,’ Pushes Back On AI Use Concerns

The Pentagon’s chief technology officer confirmed the department’s relationship with artificial intelligence firm Anthropic is “under review,” after the company reportedly raised concerns over the department potentially using its technology to employ weapons without human involvement or for mass surveillance.  Emil Michael, under secretary of defense for research and engineering, on Thursday pushed back on the recent media reports, stating the Pentagon has no intention of using AI for those purposes. “We have a robust set of laws about surveillance…
