United States, Poland Outline Missile Defense Pact, But No Final Deal Set

By Dave Ahearn The United States and Poland yesterday reached an outline of an agreement to have a U.S. ballistic missile defense system installed in Europe, and for Washington in return to provide the Poles with "concrete and tangible" military benefits, but no details of the plan have been set forth and no deal has been finalized. U.S. plans call for installing a Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) missile shield to protect Europe from enemy missiles launched by Middle Eastern nations…
