Trump Taps Long-Time Border Patrol Officer As Acting DHS Chief; Dumps Fagan, Pekoske

President Trump on Monday announced that Benjamin Huffman, who has been part of the Department of Homeland Security and a predecessor agency for 40 years, is acting secretary of homeland security. Trump also fired two top DHS officials, Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Linda Fagan, appointed by former President Biden in 2022, and Transportation Security Administrator David Pekoske, who Trump appointed in 2017.
