Australia’s Department of Defence awarded Raytheon [RTN] a $54 million contract to supply the ELCAN Specter DR 1-4x dual role weapon sight, the company said Tuesday.

The ELCAN Specter is set to replace the ADF standard 1.5x magnified sight on the new Enhanced F88 rifle in Australia’s Land 125 Phase 3C program. Dual magnification on the Specter allows for both long-range targeting and short-range rapid aiming in the same device.

“Our Specter DR 1-4x sight will significantly enhance the soldiers’ ability to observe and effectively engage targets. We look forward to delivering this critical capability to Australia’s land forces,” Cameron Perry, vice president of sales, marketing and business development at Raytheon ELCAN, said in a statement.

Raytheon plans to start deliveries later in 2016 under the terms of the contract.
