Raytheon [RTN] has opened its newest cyber facility in Augusta, Ga., to especially provide services to the Defense Department, the company said Monday.
The facility aims to provide resources to U.S. Army Cyber Command as it moves to Fort Gordon in Augusta. The Army said it expects to add 2,600 military, 900 civilian, and 200 contractor positions to Fort Gordon by 2019. The Army also expects to add about 500 student service member positions annually to Fort Gordon. The Army first decided to move its cyber command to Fort Gordon in 2013 (Defense Daily, December 20, 2013).
Fort Gordon currently hosts the home of the Army Signal Regiment and the Army Cyber Center of Excellence.
“Building our presence in Augusta allows us to strengthen our partnership with the Army’s new Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Gordon,” Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon’s intelligence, information and services business unit, said in a statement.
