Orbital Successfully Launches Cygnus Spacecraft

Orbital Sciences [ORB] Thursday successfully launched its Antares medium-class rocket carrying the first of eight Cygnus cargo logistics spacecraft missions to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of its $1.9 billion Commercial Resupply Services (CRS). Liftoff took place at 1:07 p.m. EST from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in eastern Virginia. Following a 10-minute ascent, Cygnus was successfully deployed by the Antares upper stage and placed into its intended orbit, according to a company statement.
