Lockheed Martin [LMT] yesterday said that Patrick Dewar, the company’s current vice president for International Business Development, will succeed Robert Trice as its new senior vice president for Corporate Strategy and Business Development effective Oct. 1.

Trice plans to retire in February 2011 and will continue with the company as a member of its executive management team until then.

“Bob Trice is an icon in our industry and a full-spectrum leader,” Bob Stevens, Lockheed Martin’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “During a period of intense growth and market expansion, he has been responsible for the corporation’s new business strategies and operations worldwide. In that role, he has left an indelible mark on Lockheed Martin.”

Dewar became the company’s head for international business development in January 2009. Before that, he was the vice president of Business Development for Lockheed Martin’s Electronic Systems Business Area.

“Pat’s broad experience in domestic and international business and program management, coupled with his exemplary leadership and uncompromising integrity, make him the ideal successor to Bob to lead our outstanding team of business development professionals,” Stevens said. “We are facing a new reality in a changing marketplace, where our customers are requesting increased productivity and more affordable solutions.”
