Latest Coast Guard Budget Assumptions Remain High, GAO Says

A second study by the Coast Guard that examines its asset needs against the service's long-term strategic goals relies on funding assumptions that remain "optimistic," according to letter to Congress from the Government Accountability Office (GAO). The GAO report says the lower annual funding assumption, $1.2 billion in FY ’09 dollars, is still greater than the service’s past five years of appropriations.
