An IED detonates with a cloud of smoke near visitors attending a mission designed to meet data gathering objectives. The smoke and noise are simulators, thrown by observer/controllers at the appropriate time. All the equipment is instrumented to collect data, and soldiers wear special gear that records "hits"…
