The Army has awarded ICx Technologies [ICXT] a $14 million contract to supply Cerberus mobile surveillance towers under the Base Expeditionary Targeting and Surveillance Sensors-Combined (BETSS-C) program that is run by the Asymmetric Warfare Office. The towers combine high resolution radars with thermal and imaging cameras on a common software platform to identify and track potential intruders. Under the contract 22 towers will be deployed to bases in Iraq and Afghanistan. Separately, the company has received a $4 million order for six, unmanned mobile Cerberus towers for deployment on the southern border of the U.S. for use by the Border Patrol. Shipments of the towers have begun. ICx says the towers combine high resolution radars with thermal and imaging cameras on a common software platform.
