The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate, Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA), is seeking information on innovative technologies that may meet Operationally Deployable Explosives Mitigation (ODEM) project goals. The project is being initiated to pursue “game-changing” innovative solutions to defeat or mitigate a home made explosive in the emplacement or detonation phases of the improvised explosive device event chain. As a potential game changer, the ODEM project is willing to accept moderate to high technology development risk if a research effort promises a high payoff. The ODEM project is an FY ’11 new start project with a planned budget of about $25 million over five years. Multiple awards are expected to pursue the most promising solutions. Sol.
