Geographic information systems (GIS) company Esri Technologies, LLC, last week said it has acquired GeoIQ, a geospatial analytic software company that will bring web development and design experience.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Esri said the acquisition also boosts its capabilities in cloud-based applications.
“We believe this will help us supplement our capabilities in delivering simple geospatial solutions for our customers around the world as well as the rapidly growing web developer and content delivery communities,” Jack Dangermond, Esri’s president, said in a statement.
GeoIQ, which is based in Northern Virginia, provides a family of real-time analytics software, including for use in mobile devices and social applications.
Houlihan Lokey served as GeoIQ’s financial adviser on the deal. The investment bank said that GeoIQ’s technology enables government and commercial customers to “capitalize on growing user-created geographic data and to push data analysis to the tactical edge.”
California-based Esri has customers around the world in government, commercial and non-profit organizations. The company also serves the Defense Department and intelligence community.
