The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate has issued a pre-solicitation notice for the FY ’11 Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program. Small businesses with the capability to conduct research or research and development in select homeland security-related topic areas are encouraged to participate. The topic areas are: small vessel identification and tracking technologies; preparation of environmental samples for biological detection; public safety broadband mobile application for mission critical voice; monolithic, electronically and widely tunable semiconductor-based infrared laser sources; mitigation of contact lens, eye surgery, pupil dilation, and other challenges on iris recognition; and improved firefighter face piece lenses for self-contained breathing apparatus.
