DHS Funding Bill Fails Cloture Vote In Senate

With Democrats staunchly opposed, the Senate on Tuesday failed to invoke cloture on a motion to proceed with an FY ’15 appropriations bill for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that includes provisions blocking President Barack Obama’s executive actions on immigration.The motion fell short of the 60 votes needed to invoke cloture, with 51 senators voting to proceed to consideration of H.R. 240, which passed the House last month.
