The Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded three contracts related to the design and development of a sensor inspired by a canine's sense of smell for use in detecting explosives or chemical or biological weapons. Science Applications International Corp. [SAI] received a potential $18 million award, Evolved Machines Federal Contracting Inc. up to $8.9 million and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology $6.6 million.
