Cost of Biometrics Down, But Still No Consensus On Airport Implementation

The cost for biometric identification has dropped precipitously in recent years, but the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Congress have not reached consensus on how to implement the technology to track foreign nationals exiting the nation’s airports.  The widely reported $3 billion price tag for such a program is no longer accurate, with DHS Assistant Secretary for Policy David Heyman admitting that the department lacked a current estimate at a House Judiciary Committee hearing yesterday.  An independent study this…
