Sintela Nabs Potential $9M CBP Award for Linear Ground Detection System
Customs and Border Protection has awarded Sintela, Inc.
, a potential $8.8 million contract for the fiber optic-based Linear Ground Detection System (LGDS) that will be deployed across various CBP sectors to provide Border Patrol agents with advanced detection and alert capabilities along the border. CBP on March 13 awarded the United Kingdom-based company $1.7 million for LGDS hardware and ancillary components under the Commercial Solutions Opening Pilot Program. A CBP spokesperson tells HSR that the LGDS will provide significantly enhanced situational awareness for improved mission capabilities and operator safety. The agency in April said it plans to award Sintela funding to provide lifecycle support services for the LGDS.
Rapiscan Nabs $14M Order to Support Checkpoint Inspection Systems
OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Rapiscan Systems division has received a $14 million order to provide comprehensive service and maintenance support for the company’s checkpoint baggage and parcel inspection systems. The customer was not disclosed. “We have one of the largest deployments of BPI machines in the world and a service and maintenance organization to match,” says Deepak Chopra, OSI’s chairman and CEO.
TSA to Award Maintenance Contracts to Checkpoint CT Suppliers
The Transportation Security Administration says it will award contracts to Analogic, Integrated Defense and Security Solutions, L3Harris Technologies [LHX] and Smiths Detection for extended warranties and maintenance of checkpoint computed tomography (CT) systems. TSA has been conducting various operational and other tests of the companies’ respective checkpoint CT systems for the past two years. The agency in 2019 awarded Smiths Detection the first production contract for checkpoint CT systems.
