*L-3 Communications [LLL] has received a $2.9 million contract from Customs and Border Protection for three electro-optical, infrared sensor cameras and six aircraft moving maps for the Office of Air and Marine, Jacksonville, Fla., Air Branch. Funding was provided through the Recovery Act.

*The SECURE Facilities Act of 2010 (S. 3806), introduced by a bi-partisan group of senators including Homeland Security Committee Chairman Joseph Lieberman (I/D-Conn.) and ranking member Susan Collins (R-Me.), to reform the Federal Protective Service, a branch of the Department of Homeland Security responsible for providing physical security services to federal facilities throughout the country. Among other things, the legislation would initiate a pilot project using Advanced Imaging Technology at several federal buildings. A year after implementing the technology pilot, DHS would report to Congress on the readiness of AIT systems for deployment to federal facilities, the cost of doing so, and the impact on the entry of people into the buildings.

*RAE Systems [RAE], a provider of rapidly deployable toxic gas and radiation detection equipment, has agreed to be acquired by the private equity firm Battery Ventures for $1.60 per share. The company has sold its wireless detection systems to a number of states as well as National Guard Civil Support Teams. RAE says the offer price is 85 percent above the company’s average closing price for the 30 days trading ending on Sep. 17.

*Intellicheck Mobilisa [IDN] received a $200,000 contract from the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., to provide them with its Defense ID access control system. Defense ID scans various forms of ID such as driver’s licenses, military IDs or passports, and instantly compares the data to over 100 lists of “bad guys.
