Boeing [BA] said yesterday it intends to consolidate its operations for building the next NASA spaceship to Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Boeing is designing and constructing the capsule for ferrying astronauts to and from the International Space Station. The company determined it would save money by bringing the entire operation to Cape Canaveral and would help create up to 550 local jobs.
The Crew Space Transportation-100 (CST-100) is meant to replace the shuttle fleet, which were retired earlier this year.
