The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded SecureNet, Inc., a small security systems integrator based in Texas, a $3.8 million contract for equipment and services for turnkey exit lane breach control (ELBC) technologies at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in Texas and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington. Work under the contract may include, but is not limited to, design of an ELBC solution, purchase and delivery of equipment, site preparation, integration, unit testing, maintenance and training. The project is expected to last 18 months. The project was begun in Aug. 2008 and the contract was originally supposed to be awarded in Nov. 2008. According to the original solicitation, the purpose of the pilot project is the testing and deployment of a system that will work towards automating the process of detecting, locating and preventing humans and objects from passing through exit lanes from the public side into the secure areas of an airport.
