Smiths Detection Wins $3M Baggage Screening Contract with U.K. Airport

Smiths Detection has won a $3.3 million contract to supply London's Gatwick Airport with X-Ray screening systems to scan hold baggage in order to meet a looming deadline for more stringent security standards in Europe. Smiths is supplying is dual view HI-SCAN 10080 EDX-2is automatic explosive detection systems, which alerts an operator to a suspicious item, allowing an object to be inspected from different angles.
