Marvin Sambur has been named president and chief executive officer of Burdeshaw Associates, Ltd. (BAL), according to a company statement.

Sambur will replace retired Army Gen. William Hartzog, who the company said decided to retire. Hartzog will remain a member of the company’s board of directors and as a senior associate.

Sambur led ITT Defense, now ITT Exelis [XLS], from 1977 to 2001 in successive senior positions and also served as the Air Force acquisition chief from 2001-2005.

BAL, headquarted in Bethesda, Md., is a diversified professional services company whose clients are primarily aerospace and electronics firms involved in the design, development and manufacture of systems, subsystems and components for the Defense Department and its international counterparts.
