Eaton Corp. [ETN] on Friday said it has completed the sale of its Aerospace Power Distribution Management Solutions and Integrated Cockpit Solutions businesses to France’s Safran Group
in a deal that allows Eaton’s Aerospace division to focus on its core capabilities while enabling Safran to further expand the electrical power activities within its new Labinal Power Systems business.
Safran paid $270 million for the Eaton business. The Eaton power distribution business had $102 million in sales last year and has 350 employees at manufacturing facilities in California and Florida.
The Aerospace Power Distribution Management Solutions and Integrated Cockpit Solutions business provides products to the commercial, business, military aviation and industrial markets.
Safran made a decisive move into the aircraft electrical power generation space with its acquisition in 2013 of the former Goodrich Electrical Power Systems business. The Eaton deal also expands Safran’s work in the United States.
Safran said it will consolidate the Power Distribution Management business within its Aircraft Equipment business while the Integrated Cockpit Solutions activities will become part of the defense business.
