Rockwell Collins [COL] on Monday said it has completed its acquisition of satellite communications systems provider DataPath, Inc., giving it a position in the commercial satellite network communications market.

The $130 million deal included a $20 million cash payment and the assumption by Rockwell Collins of about $110 million in DataPath’s debt (Defense Daily, April 2). DataPath had $243 million in sales last year. Rockwell Collins expects the transaction to be neutral to its FY ’09 earnings.

“DataPath’s mobile multi-band satellite terminals, network integration expertise, strong customer relationships and highly regarded field personnel provide complementary capabilities to Rockwell Collins’ existing networked communication offerings,” Al Caslavka, vice president and general manager, C3I Solutions for Rockwell Collins, said in a statement. “The result is a comprehensive portfolio that addresses the entire communications spectrum.”
