The U.S. Air Force awarded Raytheon [RTN] an undefinitized contract action (UCA) for a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract not to surpass $75.6 million to design and implement an Air and Missile Defense Operations Center (ADOC) for Qatar, the company said on Monday.
The ADOC will be the first operations center of its kind in the region.
This award is part of a modernization and recapitalization effort announced by Qatar in March. The U.S. Department of Defense announced the contract on Nov. 26.
The ADOC is set to supply an advanced Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) capability to Qatar. The ADOC is to include integration of U.S. air defense systems like the Patriot, Early Warning Radar, and THAAD, as well as European air defense systems and radars, Raytheon said. The Pentagon said the work should be completed by the end of September.
It is also planned to integrate with Qatar’s Raytheon-made Air Operations Center (AOC).
“The ADOC will have the latest command and control, cyber, and information assurance capability in partnership with the Air Force to enhance regional security and meet the State of Qatar’s requirements,” Dave Gulla, Raytheon vice president of Integrated Defense Systems’ Global Integrated Sensors business area, said in a statement.
