Raytheon [RTN] yesterday said it has entered into a 10-year partnership to collaborate with researchers at the Univ. of Texas at Austin on research into cyber security, a market area the company has been targeting for growth.
Raytheon said it would provide funding during the next 10 years for faculty working on computer security and information assurance projects at the university’s Center for Information Assurance and Security. The center has 21 faculty members addressing issues such as privacy, password cracking, network security, intrusion detection, verification and wireless networking.
“By partnering with the University of Texas at Austin, Raytheon will tap into some of the best and brightest minds to help design security capabilities for business and government customers and develop new technologies to protect against high-target threats,” Dr. J Smart, chief technology director for Raytheon’s Intelligence and Information Systems business, said in a statement.
