Pentagon Releases Selected Acquisition Reports

The Defense Department yesterday released details on major defense acquisition program cost, schedule and performance changes since June 2010. This information is based on the Selected Acquisition Reports (SARs) submitted to Congress. SARs summarize the latest estimates of cost, schedule, and performance status. There was a net cost increase of $1.8 billion (+0.1 percent), due primarily to a higher estimates for the SSN-774 Virginia-class submarine and Chemical Demilitarization- Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (ACWA) programs.
