Northrop Grumman [NOC] collaborated with the NEC Corporation to deliver the newly completed Japan-Cyber Operations Research, Training and Experimentation (J-CORTEX) system, the companies said in a joint statement June 8.

The J-CORTEX is a private-cloud-based cyber range that emulates customers’ environments for the purpose of testing and training. This system is capable of conducting realistic cybersecurity testing, training, and exercises to prepare cyber professionals to detect and prevent cyber attacks in a real-world setting.

The cyber range can create multiple testing environments with hundreds of thousands of machines in hours, the companies’ statement said.

Beyond hosting exercises, J-CORTEX can also serve as an educational and research environment to develop and master the latest tools, defenses, and other techniques to protect networks from cyber attacks.

In the J-COIRTEX offering, NEC, Northrop Grumman, and the Mitsubishi Corporation ensure a broader range of cybersecurity professionals have access to the most current cyber defensive methods and resources to ensure government networks are protected against adversaries, they said.
