Navy Accepts Third To Last Freedom LCS

The Navy accepted delivery of the USS Nantucket (LCS-27) Freedom-variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS)  on July 29, the third to last version of the ship for the service. The service accepted the ship from prime contractor Lockheed Martin [LMT] after construction was completed at shipbuilder Fincantieri Marinette Marine’s shipyard in Marinette, Wis. LCS-27 successfully completed acceptance trials last December. The Navy said the ship is now set to be commissioned later this year while it will ultimately be homeported alongside…
