Machinists Approve New Contract With Pratt & Whitney, Head Back To Work

Machinists at Pratt & Whitney on Connecticut approved a four-year contract, ending a three-week strike that began on May 5 after union members rejected the company’s final offer for wage and benefit increases. About 3,000 International Associations of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) voted by 74 percent in favor of the new collective bargaining agreement and will return to work on May 28. The IAM said the new contract provides job security in part by maintaining operations in East Hartford…
