House Panel Dubious About Reprogramming Pakistani Funds To Bolster F-16s

Members of a House subcommittee raised serious doubts recently about Pakistan's request to rejigger some of its U.S. aid to beef up its F-16 fighter jets, and the panel's head suggested objecting to the money shift. At issue is the Bush administration's July request to Congress to allow Pakistan to redirect $110 million in fiscal year 2008 Foreign Military Financing (FMF), along with up to $142 million more of such funds in the future, to support a mid-life update program…
