Sales rose 3% driven by gains in its services business–mainly for state and local government agencies–and its solutions business–again driven by state and local agencies but also for software and licensing fees. Losses widened despite a $2.2 million profit from the discontinued intelligence services business, which had a $1.4 million loss a year ago. Losses in the quarter include $1.5 million related to debt retirement, $1.1 million related to the pursuit of strategic alternatives and investment costs for expanding international business. L-1 also had $2.2 million in higher non-cash charges in the quarter reflecting higher depreciation in its secure credentialing business.
