Coast Guard Awards Bollinger $297 Million for Six FRCs

The Coast Guard has awarded Bollinger Shipyards

a $297.4 million contract option for six Fast Response Cutters that will be delivered in 2022 and 2023. The award is for FRCs 51 through 56 of a planned buy of 58 vessels that are replacing aging 110-foot Island-class patrol cutters. So far, Bollinger has delivered 35 154-foot Sentinel-class FRCs to the Coast Guard and 33 are in service. With the latest award, which was made on July 31, Bollinger has received $1.2 billion of a potential $1.4 billion for the final 26 FRCs. The Coast Guard in May 26 awarded Bollinger a potential $1.4 billion contract for the last 26 FRCs to round out the service’s fleet at 58 vessels. While the program of record is 58 FRCs, Congress has provided funding for four more vessels for operations in support of U.S. Central Command. Last August, the Coast Guard awarded Bollinger $294.4 million contract for FRCs 45 through 50. The first 32 FRCs were supplied to the Coast Guard under an earlier contract to Bollinger.

Coast Guard Awards Birdon America $190M for 47-toool MLB Life Extension

The Coast Guard has awarded Denver-based Birdon America Inc. a 10-year $190 million contract for the service life extension program (SLEP) of the service’s 47-foot Motor Lifeboats (MLB). The initial award is for $6.5 million to complete the final detail design and SLEP on the first vessel. The initial work and the first vessel will be performed at a subcontractor facility on the West Coast, Fred Wahl Marine Construction, and once in full production a second subcontracted work facility is planned to be opened on the East Coast. The Coast Guard has more than 100 MLBs, which are the services primary search-and-rescue vessel operating in surf and heavy weather conditions. The boats have been in service for 15-21 years and are approaching the end of their planned 25-year service life. The SLEP will extend the useful life of the MLB by 20years and be performed on between 107 and 117 of the vessels.

DHS Awards Michael Stapleton $2M for Bomb Sniffing Dog Services

The Department of Homeland Security has awarded Michael Stapleton Associates a $2.1 million contract to provide Explosive Detection Canine Team services at various locations throughout Manhattan. The award was made by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Federal Protective Service.

CBP Awards DynCorp Potential $1.4B for Aviation Support

Customs and Border Protection in late May awarded DynCorp International [DI] a potential $1.4 billion contract to provide national aviation maintenance and logistics support. The contract has a one-year base and nine and a half option years. Under the contract, DynCorp will provide aircraft maintenance and logistics support services to CBP’s fleet of 211 fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. PAE was the incumbent contractor.

Cubic to Supply CBRN Training Simulation System for Australian Army

Cubic Corp. [CUB] says it has been selected by the Australian army to provide a training simulation system for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense missions. Cubic says the system employs simulated CBRN threats projected within a simulated environment to live instrumented soldiers in the exercise environment. “Cubic’s capability includes simulation of detection, casualty status, treatment and weather impacts,” says Miles Macdonald, general manager of Cubic Defence Australia and New Zealand. “The system is capable of projecting synthetic CBRN effects over large numbers of soldiers exercising on Australia’s training areas, enabling highly realistic scenarios to be exercised under simulated battlefield conditions.” Cubic says its system will expand the offering for the Australian Combat Training Centre.
