The Canadian government chose Fortinet [FTNT] to help secure the country’s information technology (IT) infrastructure, the company said Thursday.
Fortinet will collaborate with the government’s IT service organization, Shared Services Canada (SSC) to provide scalable, consolidated solutions across the government’s distributed network environments, the company said.
The SSC is set to also leverage the company’s products including FortiGate Net-Generation Enterprise Firewalls and the FortiManager to simplify security management and control across the government departments with a single view of the network.
SSC was originally created to transform how the Canadian government manages its IT infrastructure. Part of its charter directs the organization to consolidate IT functions across 103 government departments and agencies to increase performance, decrease complexity, and reduce management costs.
“Being selected by Shared Services Canada to protect the Government’s distributed network environments is a testament to the scalability, security and performance of the Fortinet Security Fabric which enables end-to-end network protection for the Government of Canada while adhering to its federal mandates and price performance requirements,” Andy Travers, senior vice president of U.S. and Canada sales at Fortinet, said in a statement.
