Coast Guard Issues RFI for Minotaur Mission Suite on HC-130J Upgrade
The Coast Guard has released a Request for Information for the installation of the Minotaur Mission System Suite (MSS+) on the C-130J aircraft, after which the aircraft is designated HC-130J. The Coast Guard is also planning 8.1 block upgrade modifications to the aircraft to “maintain access to global airspace, enhance aircraft navigational accuracy, maintain commonality with the worldwide C-130J operational community, and reduce component obsolescence.” The Coast Guard currently has 15 HC-130J aircraft in operational use or production and has an approved acquisition baseline of 22 aircraft. The service says responses to the RFI will help it make decisions regarding the MSS+, 8.1 block upgrades, and sparing. Lockheed Martin [LMT] builds the C-130 aircraft. Respond by Oct. 9.
