The Transportation Security Administration says it isn’t ready to disclose the exact number of computed tomography (CT) systems the agency will be purchasing from Analogic but said in a press release that the company will provide more than 300 units. TSA in late August awarded Analogic a $198 million contract under the Checkpoint Property Screening System Mid-Size procurement, which also includes powered conveyors for CT ingress and egress, an automatic divert capability to send suspect bags to a secondary screening area, bins, and primary and alternate view stations. TSA expects to begin deploying the checkpoint CT systems at airports in early 2022.

The Defense Department of Office Inspector General has begun evaluating DoD’s management of its tracking and vetting of refugees from Afghanistan. The IG says in a protect announcement that it “will determine the extent to which the DoD is managing and tracking displaced persons from Afghanistan through the biometrics enrollment, screening, and vetting process.” The evaluation will look at the biometric screening of individuals, management of the biometric enrollment of individuals that have never been enrolled in DoD databases, management of individuals identified as security risks, and how DoD manages and tracks individuals entering and exiting DoD facilities when screening and vetting are not complete.
