Customs and Border Protection, under the Federal Aviation Administration’s contracting office, has issued Request for Quotations for three man-portable unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems from two manufacturers to meet urgent needs. The agency is seeking quotes from Aerovironment for hand-launched Puma and Raven UAVs. CBP has also asked Physical Sciences Inc.’s PSI Tactical Robotics division to provide a quote for the InsantEye Mk2 quadcopter small UAV.
NEC Corporation of America is rebranding its biometric systems division as NEC Advanced Recognition Systems, formerly known as NEC Biometrics Solutions. The company says the rebranding is in line with the division’s new emphasis on people, patterns and predictions. “We are committed to understanding our client’s challenges first, and assist them with a full solution implementation in comparison to any specific biometric technology or tool,” says Raffie Beroukhim, senior vice president of the Advanced Recognition Systems division.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement awarded Vista Outdoor a potential six-month, $649,776 deliver order for 9mm ammunition, raising the value of the company’s existing indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity contract to $5.9 million. The delivery order allows ammunition to be provided without a break in service while the agency conducts a competition for a potential new supplier of the ammo. The estimated award date is Sept. 27, 2017.
The U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission awarded Aitheras, LLC, a one-year, $900,000 to provide Continuous Diagnostics and Monitoring services for information technology systems located at headquarters in El Paso, Texas, Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant (IWTP) in Arizona, and South Bay IWTP in California. Aitheras has IT equipment and active monitoring sensors installed at all three locations to protect agency systems from external cyber attacks, and advise on real-time vulnerabilities or active threats. The agency has a need to continue these services until it obtains them from the Department of Homeland Security in April 2018.
