Boeing’s Insitu Nabs $117 Million Contract To Provide UAS Services To Coast Guard

The Coast Guard late Wednesday awarded a potential $117.2 million contract to Boeing’s [BA] Insitu unit to provide contractor owned and operated small unmanned aircraft (sUAS) services aboard its fleet of National Security Cutters (NSC), the first time the service has contracted for sustained and wide-scale use of unmanned aircraft.Boeing beat out an offering from Textron [TXT] for the award, which has a one-year base period and seven option years.The first deployments of Insitu’s ScanEagle sUAS are scheduled to be…
