Boeing [BA] has received a $497.1 million deal to deliver 12 CH-47F Block I Chinook helicopters to Egypt and two of the heavy-lift aircraft for the U.S. Army, the company said Tuesday.

The CH-47s for Egypt are part of a potential $2.6 billion foreign military sale (FMS) the U.S. State Department approved in May, which covered the sale of up to 23 F-model Chinook helicopters.

“The F-model aircraft will enhance Egypt’s Chinook capabilities and help effectively accomplish its heavy-lift objectives,” Ken Eland, Boeing’s vice president and H-47 program manager, said in a statement. “Boeing’s partnership with the Egyptian Air Force remains strong as we continue to work together to modernize their fleet.”

The Chinook helicopters for Egypt account for $426 million of the new deal, which was officially awarded on Dec. 23.

Boeing noted the F-model Block 1 aircraft will begin replacing the Egyptian Air Force’s current fleet of CH-47D Chinook helicopters.

The $2.6 billion FMS case with Egypt approved in May also included 56 of Honeywell’s [HON] T-55 engines, 29 AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning Systems and 75 M-250 machine guns (Defense Daily, May 26).

Deliveries of the new CH-47F Chinooks for both Egypt and the U.S. are slated for 2026, a Boeing spokesperson told Defense Daily
