Marco Antonio Caffe is becoming BAE Systems’ new General Manager for Brazil, leading the company’s office in Brasilia, BAE said on Tuesday.

Caffe is replacing Jim Reid, who “after two years in post, is moving to a new international role with the company,” BAE said.

Caffe joined BAE as Director for Army and Security in 2013. He is a retired colonel and graduate of the Military Academy of Agulhas Negras, Brazil.

Caffe was one of the first helicopter pilots to join the Brazilian Army’s Aviation Commans in Taubate, Sao Paulo. He accumulared over 2,000 flying hours while there, BAE said.

He attended France’s Ecole de Guerre military college in Paris in 2010 and 2011.Caffe also has a post graduate degree in Public management Law from Brazil’s Castello Branco University and a Masters in Military Administration from the Barzilian Army Command and Staff College, Rio de Janeiro.

“Working closely with Jim and the team, Marco has done an excellent job since he joined the business. He has a deep understanding of the Brazilian customer community and his appointment continues our strong, local presence in Brazil, which began back in 1998,” Llyr Jones, BAE Systems’ vice president for Latin America and Canada, said in a statement.

“I’m looking forward to my new role and particularly our presence at LAAD 2015. This week we are showcasing how we can support the Brazilian Armed Forces’ modernization agenda by working closely with Brazilian industry,” Caffe added.
