Combining their collective expertise in systems and products that protect troops, vehicles and various infrastructures, Britain’s BAE Systems and Composite Technologies have signed an exclusive teaming for a line of business focused on products and services to protect critical infrastructure.

BAE said it will bring to bear its technologies and solutions used to develop armored vehicles for the military to the new Infratection Solutions business while New York-based Composite Technologies will offer its advanced material solutions that it already offers for buildings, bridges other critical infrastructure.

“The threat of terrorism has made our nation much more aware of our vulnerabilities, especially in regards to critical infrastructure,” John Kelly, vice president of business winning at BAE’s United States-based Land and Armaments division, said in a statement. “Together with Composite Technologies, we’ve developed armor solutions adaptable to numerous applications using technologies and materials previously reserved only for military applications.”

BAE also said that it recently submitted a bid on a multi-million dollar infrastructure protection project in North America that is one of several potential contracts the Infratection Solutions business could begin work on this year.
