Malcolm O’Neill yesterday was sworn in as assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology).

The Senate confirmed O’Neill and several others March 4, after senators released holds on the nominations. The White House nominated O’Neill in December (Defense Daily, Dec. 3).

Principal Deputy, Dean Popps, who had been the acting acquisition chief, continues as the civilian deputy.

O’Neill, a former director of the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) before it was renamed the Missile Defense Agency, is a retired Army lieutenant general with combat service. O’Neill had most recently been a consultant and chairman on the board on Army Science and Technology of the National Academies.
