The Air Force said yesterday it awarded Boeing [BA] a $3.5 billion contract modification for F-15S to SA conversion kits.

In addition to the conversion kits, Boeing will produce technical order development, integration and testing fabrication of trial kits to support validation and verification activities as well as the procurement and installation of four base stand-up kits. The Air Force said this modification is a decrease of $456 million from a revised not-to-exceed award of $3.5 billion for the F-15S/SA conversion and provisioning program.

The F-15SA variant is specifically made for the Royal Saudi Arabia air force. The U.S. Air Force in 2012 awarded Boeing $5.8 billion in contracts to provide 136 F-15SA conversion kits (Defense Daily, Nov. 7).

The Air Force recently awarded Lockheed Martin [LMT] a $253 million contract to begin work on F-15SA pilot and maintenance training systems (Defense Daily, March 14).
