Lockheed Martin’s [LMT] surprise announcement Sunday that it has agreed to acquire propulsion systems developer and manufacturer Aerojet Rocketdyne [AJRD] in a $4.4 billion deal will lead to better integrated end products and improved manufacturing, all of which will strengthen Lockheed Martin’s competitive position by reducing costs and improving time to market for customers, James Taiclet, the company's president and CEO said on Monday.
