TSA Going Light on Checkpoint CT in FY ’21 Budget Request

The Transportation Security Administration’s is requesting less than $29 million in fiscal year 2021 for advanced carry-on baggage screening systems versus having more than $161 million at its disposal the past two fiscal years for the computed tomography (CT)-based technology. The $28.9 million request, which stands a good chance of being increased by Congress, would purchase 30 CT systems, including full-size Automated Screening Lanes (ASLs) that will be installed with the scanning systems at airport checkpoints, according Department of Homeland…
