TSA, American Airlines Team To Bring Automated Security Technology To Checkpoints

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and American Airlines [AA] on Tuesday said they are undertaking a joint initiative this year to bring automated security technology and an advanced screening system to several airports to improve security and the traveler experience.The initiative includes a pilot program late this year to deploy computed tomography (CT) scanners, which are typically referred to explosive detection systems (EDS) that automatically screen checked bags for explosives at airports, to a checkpoint at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport.The…
