Teledyne Technologies [TDY] yesterday said has agreed to acquire BlueWave Technologies, a developer and provider of compact acoustic imaging and measurement solutions for the underwater environment.

Terms of the deal, which is expected to close in early July, were not disclosed.

Washington-based BlueView has technologies and products in compact forward-looking imaging sonar, microbathymetry systems and 3D scanning sonars. The company’s sonar systems are deployed on autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), surface vessels, and fixed and portable platforms.

BlueView’s customers include the Navy, Raytheon [RTN], SAIC [SAI], Oceaneering International [OII], various NATO defense contractors, ports authorities and research institutions.

“BlueView will add novel technology and unique products to our Teledyne Marine group, which consists of 11 businesses that provide acoustic sensors and communication devices, harsh environment interconnects, and complete autonomous underwater vehicles,” Robert Mehrabian, chairman, president and CEO of Teledyne, said in a statement. “BlueView’s imaging sonars and microbathymetry systems further increase Teledyne’s instrumentation content on AUVs and ROVs used in oil and gas and marine survey applications.”
