State Department Approves $23 Billion Deal With Japan For More F-35s

The State Department approved a potential $23.11 billion Foreign Military Sale (FMS) with Japan for 105 F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft and equipment. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the sale on Thursday. Japan’s sale primarily requests 63 F-35A Conventional Take-Off and Landing variant aircraft, 42 F-35B Short Take-Off and Vertical Landing variants, and 110 Pratt and Whitney [RTX] F135 engines.
