Sensors On Two Japanese Weather Satellites Provided By DRS Technologies

DRS Technologies, a Finmeccanica company, provided sensors on two of the latest next-generation weather satellites for the Japan Meteorological Agency, the company said on Feb. 11.DRS contributed 32 sensors in each of the satellites, called Himawari-8 and Himawari-9. The sensors range from the visibile band to the long-wave infrared band. The sensors give the satellites an ability to make observations with greater frequency and in more spectral bands than the satellites they were designed to replace, DRS said."DRS is pleased…
